Dr. Camelo´s areas of research interest include a wide variety of neonatal and pediatric issues such as nutrition and metabolism of the neonate, especially concerning development of a human milk lyophilisate and inherited metabolic diseases related to small molecules. His Associate Professor thesis addressed the issue of galactosemia in Brazil. He is the author of dozens of articles, abstracts, book chapters and technical reports, and has made lectures of his work nationally and internationally.
He is member of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics and is Advisor of the Department of Health of the São Paulo State, and Health Ministry in the National Program of the Newborn Screening in Brazil. He is an active reviewer for some journals such as Jornal de Pediatria (RJ), São Paulo Medical Journal, Nutrition Research and Brazilian Journal of Medical, and Biological Research. Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Screening (JIEMS), Official Journal of the Latin American Society of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Screening SAGE Publications, Inc.
